This is a walkthrough of a UI design kit I built in Figma from the ground up with accessibility in mind. We use this at Spruce Technology to speed up prototyping, increase implementation consistency, and comply with accessibility standards from the beginning of our projects. This UI kit is designed to act as a kickstarterContinue reading “Blank Slate – Accessible UI Kit”
Prep for players. Play the world.
I’ve recently come across a couple new discussions of quantum ogres in the TTRPG community. Obviously there are differences of opinion around what exactly a quantum ogre is and whether or not it’s ever an appropriate to for a GM to employ. Allow me to define my current position: I believe GMs should prep forContinue reading “Prep for players. Play the world.”
Luncher & Rejoicy
I was part of the founding team of Rejoicy, a platform for creating and managing e-commerse sites for social media sellers. The team included three full-time members as well as a few invaluable part-time and contract contributers. I was in charge of product design. Edwin Oriz was the founder and CEO in charge of funding,Continue reading “Luncher & Rejoicy”
Example Project Process
This was an example project I was asked to do as part of an interview last year. I was told to do my best with the knowledge I had and was given a week to produce the deliverables outside of my normal work. This doesn’t illustrate my collaboration process with a production team, reasearchers, and other designers (which I love to do), but it does show my personal process for thinking through a product design.
Storyboarding the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
This video explains how I learned about the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and combined it with Amy Jo Kim’s Game Thinking product design model to make storyboards for customers at Rejoicy.com Correction: In the video I say I was working with Rejoicy in 2001. I meant to say 2021.
Staying in touch with customers
In this video, I explain how and why I made a 1-minute product update video every Friday for a couple of months, at Rejoicy.com. You can view the original update videos here.
User Feedback and the Iterative Design Process
This video explains an iterative design experience I had adding promotions functionality to Rejoicy.com. I find that working with customers to get feedback while iterating through feature versions is one of the most rewarding parts of product design. Here’s a link to the original video I sent out to customers and stakeholders for feedback onContinue reading “User Feedback and the Iterative Design Process”
User flows and Wireframes and HiFi components, oh my!
In this video, I show an overview of the process of redesigning the Luncher web application from scratch. I walk through mapping out how users interact with features, wireframing a basic user interface, and building high fidelity components in Figma. Unfortunately, Luncher did not survive the pandemic in 2020, so there’s no website live inContinue reading “User flows and Wireframes and HiFi components, oh my!”
