I was part of the founding team of Rejoicy, a platform for creating and managing e-commerse sites for social media sellers. The team included three full-time members as well as a few invaluable part-time and contract contributers. I was in charge of product design. Edwin Oriz was the founder and CEO in charge of funding, legal, HR, sales, and anything else he could assist with. Luke Brown was the second founder and CTO in charge of building and maintaining the webapp.

We originally got together to work on Luncher, a product to deliver lunches from local restaurants to office buildings. That was just starting to gain traction when the pandemic hit and all the office buildings shut down. We pivoted hard and went through several iterations to find a user base we could serve with some of our existing technology. We ended up forming Rejoicy and began addressing the e-commerse needs of makers, bakers, and other social media movers-and-shakers who wanted an easy way to receive and fulfill orders online.

During my time at Rejoicy, I conducted UX interviews with existing and potential customers to evaluate their needs and discover solutions. I often created user-flows, wireframes, and prototypes to focus those conversations and test ideas. I also produced weekly feature updates to encourage user feedback and engagement. I built out the entire UI component library in Figma and worked closely with our head of development to implement those elements in MVP and ideal versions. I ended up stepping away from the company early in 2022 to address some family needs. I’m proud of the work I did with Rejoicy. I especially valued my relationships with customers and how that facilitated meeting their business needs. I also loved working so closely with Luke to iteratively create a component library and design system that met all of our needs without much bloat.
